Sometimes referred to as "practicum" or practice teaching, our Methods courses' clinical experiences prepare our third year, admitted teacher candidates for a full student teaching placement as seniors and to put into practice the pedagogy skills hat they are acquiring in their Methods classes. Hanover's Methods courses include the following:
Elementary Methods Courses: EDU 302/305 (English and Social Studies, 304/308 (Math and Science) and EDU 341 (Phonics and Phonological Awareness)
Secondary Methods Courses: EDU 314 (Teaching Middle School), EDU 315 Teaching High School), EDU 33X (Teaching the Content Area)
Special Education Methods Courses: EDU 206 Assessment in Literacy and EDU 207 Assessment in Mathematics
*Each methods course listed above has approximately 20 hours of field assignments in addition to classroom meetings.
Students enrolled in these courses must have:
- formal admission to the EPP
- an current academic year background check from Safe Hiring Solutions
- an annual student membership in the National Education Association (NEA) which affords candidates up to $1 million in liability insurance
- participation in COACH for Education mentoring is strongly encouraged
- completing assignments in Canvas and in Luminvero (students assign rubrics to their mentor and instructor in the Lumivero Assignments environment in the software.

At the end of the Methods coursework, candidates must complete Decision Point 2 to advance to Student Teaching.
