Sometimes referred to as "practicum" or practice teaching, our Methods courses' clinical experiences prepare our third year, admitted teacher candidates for a full student teaching placement as seniors and to put into practice the pedagogy skills hat they are acquiring in classes. Hanover's Methods courses include the following:
Elementary Education: EDU 302/305, 304/308 (60 hours of field total)
*Please note that the EDU curriculum changes for 2024-2025 to include the Science of Reading curriculum mandated by the state and the above may change.
Secondary Methods Courses are EDU 314, EDU 315, EDU 33X by content area (60 hours of field total)
*Each methods course listed above has approximately 20 hours of field assignments in addition to classroom meetings.
Students enrolled in these courses must have:

- an annual background check per academic year via Safe Hiring Solutions
- an annual student membership in the National Education Association (NEA) which affords candidates up to $1 million in liability insurance along with other benefits.
