Hilda Flint Cordrey was born and raised in the Madison, Indiana, area. She attended Hanover in the early 1920s. Mrs. Cordrey taught in the Madison Consolidated School system for 45 years and retired in1975. When Mrs. Cordrey died in 1996, she had made arrangements for a trust to be established from her estate. Because of her love for teaching and also for Hanover College, Mrs. Cordrey had specified that a portion of the trust income each year should go to the top two students who are majoring in elementary education at Hanover. In this way, Mrs. Cordrey continues to provide for excellence in education even after her lifetime has ended.
